Description

Wattway is a turnkey photovoltaic solution installed on existing transport infrastructure (roads, car parks, quays, cycle paths, airports) to produce locally generated renewable energy for on-site consumption. Developed by Colas, a subsidiary of the Bouygues Group, this patented technology is based on ultra-thin photovoltaic panels (5 mm thick) that can be installed without heavy civil works or any change to the original use of the surface. Thanks to this unique approach, Wattway makes it possible to valorize already developed surfaces without additional land take, while providing a local, reliable and low-carbon response to energy needs. It is particularly well suited to constrained or protected sites such as dense urban areas, environmentally sensitive locations, ports, islands, or highly occupied industrial zones. With more than 120 installations completed worldwide, Wattway has proven the reliability and relevance of its technology for producing local energy on existing infrastructure, addressing today’s challenges of energy transition and land-use efficiency. Manufactured in France, Wattway is an innovation serving sustainable territories, combining energy performance, environmental responsibility, and social acceptability.
