Climate change and the increasing frequency of natural hazards are realities that affect us all. Floods, fires, storms, and droughts are all disasters that affect a growing number of French people every year.

AXA is committed to working alongside them to address these risks, but also more broadly to combat climate change.

By anticipating and protecting. Prevention is one of the key levers for ensuring everyone's insurability. Last year, more than 8 million text messages were sent to all our customers to warn them in advance of bad weather. In addition, AXA Prévention has set up the Climat & Moi platform, which offers everyone simple and practical tools to deal with climate impacts and protect what matters most to them: their health, their homes, their communities, etc. For businesses, AXA is committed to promoting a culture of climate prevention, in particular through the distribution of a dedicated white paper to help them better understand the impact of climate change on their activities. We also offer an awareness program for company employees, “Coup de chaud sur ma santé” (Heatwave on my health), which helps them better understand its consequences on their health. Close to the field and the needs of our policyholders, our network of agents, present throughout France, operates as a local “risk manager.” 

By taking action every day. Convinced of the role that AXA France has to play in the ecological transition, we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment at all levels. This commitment is reflected in AXA France's offerings, such as the Green Guarantee, which allows for more energy-efficient reconstruction in the event of a claim. For example, one of our insured companies, after a hailstorm damaged its roof, was able to take advantage of this guarantee to install more resistant white asphalt, which also reduces its energy consumption in a region exposed to high temperatures. To support local authorities in understanding the challenges of climate change, our association AXA Prévention is also rolling out its “Ma Commune en action” platform, which is free for all municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants and helps them develop their municipal safety plans (PCS). With 300 PCS completed or in progress, this means that just as many French people are better protected against climate crises. Finally, AXA France is mobilizing as a sponsor to contribute to our country's adaptation to climate change. This is the whole point of our four-year partnership with Voies Navigables de France (VNF), which allows us to support five projects to preserve our riverine ecological heritage each year, one per AXA region.

To take things further and contribute to the debate on accelerating the ecological transition, AXA France has partnered with The Shift Project, a think tank focused on decarbonizing the economy, founded by Jean-Marc Jancovici. 

In December, with the support of AXA, The Shift Project published a report that aims to improve the planning of the ecological transition at the local level by looking at the availability of resources (water, soil, agricultural and forest biomass, electricity) and regional specificities. 

Because the acceleration of the ecological transition will rely on our territories, this work is essential in contributing to the discussions of national and local public actors. All of this is in the service of effective ecological planning, as close as possible to the French people.
