Description

Saskia de Rothschild is Executive Chairwoman of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite, and joint manager of Château Lafite Rothschild (Premier Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac). The family company is also owner of Château Duhart-Milon (Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac), Château Rieussec (Premier Grand Cru Classé in Sauternes), Château L’Évangile (Pomerol) in the Bordeaux region, Domaine d’Aussières (Languedoc, 1999), Bodegas CARO (Argentina, 1999), Viña Los Vascos (Chile, 1989) and Domaine de Long Dai (China). She joined the DBR Board in 2008 and has been chairwoman alongside her father since 2016. She became chairwoman of DBR Lafite in 2018. Initially, she trained herself in the technical aspects of viticulture through work experience at Château L’Evangile and Château Lafite and by following blending at the properties over 6 vintages. In 2017, she went back to agricultural university to study for a BTSA in Viticulture & Oenology and did her end of study memoir on pre-fermentary maceration in Chateau L’Evangile. A graduate of HEC and Columbia University, Saskia de Rothschild started her career as a journalist, initially as a freelance in the United States, then with the New York Times, in Paris and West Africa. In 2015, she has written for the Washington Post, Libération, Le Monde, Les Echos, Vanity Fair, XXI and also wrote the novel Erable (published by Editions Stock).
